We cannot accept applications directly from applicants. If you are unsure who to ask, we advise you to speak to a nurse on the ward. What is your eligibility criteria for support?
Your child must have been admitted to hospital within the last 7 days.
Your child’s condition must be life-threatening or life-limiting.
Your child must be under the age of 18.

Do you help with accommodation costs?
Yes – we can pay for accommodation costs for several days if you have limited finances and are unable to access accommodation through the hospital. This will include breakfast where the option is available.
Are there any restrictions or exclusions on assistance with accommodation costs?
Yes – your child must be an inpatient at a hospital away from where you live. Also, we are unable to reimburse you for any accommodation you have already booked or paid for. We always book accommodation on your behalf.
Will the accommodation be close to the hospital?
Yes – we always aim to book accommodation within a mile of the hospital. If accommodation is requested at very short notice and affordable rooms in the city-centre are booked up, we may have to arrange accommodation further afield.
Are grant awards means-tested?
No – we want to keep our application process as simple as possible and trust that only those with a financial need will apply.
Are food & travel grant awards paid directly into my bank account?
Yes – we do our best to make payments the same day as an application is processed, but depending on timescales, they may be made the next working day.
Can a grant for accommodation costs be paid directly to me?
No – we always pay the accommodation provider directly on your behalf.
