Cody was born with pulmonary arteriosus, ventricular septal defect (VSD) and major aortopulmonary collateral arteries (MAPCAs), a life-threatening and complex cardiac condition. In May 2023, he underwent open heart surgery at the Alder Hey hospital in Liverpool. 

Due to the seriousness of the procedure and the impact on his little body, his family were prioritised for a room at Ronald Macdonald House, the on-site accommodation. Nevertheless, they still had to cover food and travel costs on a very limited budget. Evie’s Gift stepped in, awarding his mum Sarah a grant to help her manage these expenses.

After his operation, Cody spent two weeks in intensive care before being transferred to the high dependency unit. He was discharged on June 28, 2023, and is now thriving, walking, and bringing joy to the whole family. Sarah has a holiday to Wales planned in 2024 and is looking forward to making memories with this little legend.
